In her past life during the reign of Mahabali, she was born as Ratnamala, the king’s daughter. Upon seeing Lord Mahavishnu arrive in his dwarf child-avatar as Vamana, Ratnamala was overcome with pure, unconditional maternal affection and intensely wished she could cradle and nurse him.
