Honey Badger vs Hippopotamus: The Pool Belongs to the Hippo | WildLore

Three tons of hippo guards the only water for miles. One thirsty honey badger wants a drink. This standoff ends in the last way you would expect. In the dry season, a savanna pool is life itself. A hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius) — up to three tonnes of muscle, teeth and territorial pride — owns this one, and he has made that very clear. A honey badger (Mellivora capensis), about twelve kilos of loose skin, long claws and absolute stubbornness, is thirsty. He does not leave. He does not back down. He learns the one rule that changes everything: the hippo owns the pool — but not the bank. What follows is not a fight. It is a war of patience: charges out of the water, drinks stolen at the far edge, a calf under its mother's eye — and a dawn truce written in mud. In this episode: Why does silence on a hippo pool mean danger?
