On the afternoon of Thursday 8 July 2021, a 23-year-old from Windsor, Wisconsin, sat down with a detective at the Dane County Sheriff's Office to talk about his missing parents. He had reported them missing the day before. He told the deputies a couple he did not know had picked Bart and Krista Halderson up before six on the Friday morning a week earlier, to drive them to the family cabin up north; that his mother had texted on the Fourth to say they had made it; that her phone had gone straight to voicemail ever since. That morning he had walked door to door asking the neighbours what their cameras had seen.
The neighbours' cameras faced the driveway. A store camera in the same village had already answered the rest.
This is the police interview, shortened and in order, with the cameras, the phone records and the court record laid against his account where the record answers it. What the court decided is at the end of the film.
