I've been suffering from dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis since I was 8 years old. I thought that when I stopped using relaxers I wouldn't experience the huge itchy flakes and irritated scalp. However, the dandruff that I was experiencing was cause by contact dermatitis from shampoos both sulfate and sulfate-free. When I went on the curly girl method in 2014, I noticed that by using cleansing conditioners solely on my scalp did not cause dandruff. But, if I went too long without washing my hair, I would experience mild dandruff.
