A talk and performance by ‘Nritya Kalanidhi’ Lakshmi Viswanathan during the Spanda Anniversary celebrations curated by Guru Leela Samson in July 2015 at Brahma Gana Sabha, Mylapore (Chennai). The seminar highlighted the core ideas of the classic Varnam, particularly those of the Tanjore Quartet. Lakshmi presented excerpts from two magnum opus varnams: “dāni ké tāgu jānarā” by Tanjore Quartet Sivanandam (1808-1863) and “Viriboni” (Bhairavi) by Pachimiriyam Adippayya (1725-1775).
