In 2014 a bank lent $430 million against Destiny USA, the largest shopping mall in New York State, and sold the loan on in five layers. The top layer was rated AAA. In August 2026 the same agency rated every layer C.
The mall never closed. It is open today, and that is what makes the rest of it strange.
