The cinematic introduces the desperate state of the Federation of Central Usea and the circumstances that lead the player to inherit the legendary name Wings of Theve. Set in July 2029 in the fictional world of Strangereal, the story begins after the Republic of Sotoa launches a devastating invasion of the FCU, occupying most of the country and scattering its military. The player is rescued at sea by the aging aircraft carrier Endurance, which has retreated from the front lines carrying refugees and the remnants of the FCU’s forces. Aboard the Endurance, the player is given the identity Wings of Theve, supposedly a legendary ace and symbol of hope connected to the occupied FCU capital of Theve. In reality, the legend was manufactured to keep morale alive, leaving the player and three new squadron comrades to turn that fictional hero into something real and fight to reclaim their homeland.
