Kraken is a 2026 Norwegian monster action horror film directed by Pål Øie. Starring Sara Khorami, Mikkel Bratt Silset, and Ingvild Holthe Bygdnes. Kraken (2026) follows Johanne, played by Sara Khorami, a marine biologist doing research at a fish farm in rural Norway. When strange occurrences begin around the fjord, including unnatural behavior in the salmon and the mysterious deaths of two local teenagers, Johanne starts to suspect that the danger may be coming from deep below the surface. Directed by Pål Øie, with Sjur Aarthun also credited as co-director in some listings, the film uses Norway’s fjord landscape to build a tense monster movie around isolation, environmental disruption, and the fear of what might be hiding underwater. The deeper Johanne investigates, the more the signs point toward Norway’s deepest fjord and a mythical creature believed to be impossible. The film also stars Mikkel Bratt Silset as Erik, Ingvild Holthe Bygdnes as Henriette, Øyvind Brandtzæg as Avaldsnes, and Jenny Evensen as Maria. As the mystery grows, the local fish farm, the surrounding community, and the natural world all become part of the warning signs that something ancient has awakened. As the Kraken begins to reveal itself, the movie shifts from mystery into survival horror. The legendary sea monster is massive, multi-armed, and drawn to movement and sound, turning the fjord into a deadly trap. What begins as an investigation into strange animal behavior becomes a fight to survive against a creature that has been hiding in the depths all along.
