New York Ratha Yatra — Festival of Chariots 🌎 Location: Times Square → 5th Avenue → Washington Square Park 📅 Date: June 13, 2026 What is Ratha Yatra? Ratha Yatra is an ancient festival originating in Puri, India, celebrated for thousands of years. It brings the majestic chariot procession of Lord Jagannath (the Lord of the Universe) to the heart of New York City — a vibrant spectacle of Indian culture, music, and spiritual joy. The Day's Highlights 🛕 Harinama on Times Square (Morning) The day begins with ecstatic Harinama — sacred chanting and singing through the streets of Times Square. Dancers, musicians, and devotees fill the iconic crossroads with the sound of maha-mantra, transforming the bustling tourist hub into a open-air temple of joy. 🎠 Grand Parade on 5th Avenue (Late Morning) Three towering, ornately decorated chariots — representing Jagannath, Baladeva, and Subhadra — roll down 5th Avenue, pulled by ropes held by thousands of enthusiastic participants.
