Four bands. The decade that invented heavy.
The Lost Take Archive pulls up another one that shouldn't exist on paper — a bill that never happened, but sounds exactly like it should have. This one brings together Led Zeppelin's dynamic, riff-heavy weight, Black Sabbath's doom-laden, heavy minor-key power, Deep Purple's fast, organ-driven attack, and AC/DC's simple, hard-hitting swagger. Same arena, same roaring 20,000-person crowd, four completely different bands that all helped define what heavy rock and metal would become.
Nothing here is trying to be polite about it — riffs that hit like a wall, solos that take their time when the song calls for it, and vocals ranging from mischievous swagger to genuinely ominous. This is the tape that surfaces when someone forgets which decade they're supposed to be listening to.
What's on the tape:
00:00 - Pinball Wizard
05:03 - Burn
08:47 - My Generation
13:13 - Dyer Maker
17:16 - Brain Damage
21:31 - Boogie with Stu
25:40 - Eclipse
31:35 - Mistreated
36:50 - Behind Blue Eyes
41:48 - Pigs
47:12 - The Crunge
50:40 - Baba ORiley
55:21 - Anyones Daughter
If you've ever argued about which of these four bands actually invented heavy metal, this tape doesn't settle it. It just gives you thirteen more reasons to keep arguing.
