My 2006 Mercedes-Benz S600 W220 had a blown fuse for the EIS (Electronic Ignition Switch), and instead of simply replacing the fuse, I needed to find out *why it kept blowing.* In this video, I walk through the diagnostic process of finding the short using the *Mercedes wiring diagram* and tracing the EIS circuit. What I found was something many W220 owners and even technicians may not realize: *the alarm siren is part of this circuit.* I removed the wheel to gain access to the alarm siren, disconnected it, and the short disappeared. The culprit turned out to be an **internally shorted alarm siren**. This is a great example of why understanding the wiring diagram and following the circuit can be more valuable than simply throwing parts at a problem. I also discuss why Mercedes may have incorporated the alarm system into the ignition circuit as part of the vehicle's **anti-theft/security strategy**. If someone attempts to disable the alarm system, the vehicle can also prevent the ignition system from operating. If you're diagnosing a **Mercedes-Benz W220 S-Class**, especially an S600, and you're dealing with a blown EIS fuse, no-start condition, or electrical short, this may give you another place to look. 🔧 *Vehicle:* 2006 Mercedes-Benz S600 W220 🔧 *Problem:* Blown EIS fuse / electrical short 🔧 *Failed component:* Alarm siren 🔧 *Diagnostic method:* Wiring diagram + circuit tracing 🔧 *Result:* Internally shorted alarm siren found and replaced If you enjoy real-world Mercedes diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, and seeing how a professional technician actually tracks down difficult faults, *subscribe to the channel.* Lou Palomino #MercedesBenz #Mercedes #W220 #S600 #MercedesS600 #MercedesDiagnostics #MercedesRepair #MercedesBenzRepair #EIS #ElectronicIgnitionSwitch #MercedesElectrical #AutoDiagnostics #CarDiagnostics #AutomotiveRepair #MasterTech
