GROW in Goodness

Continuing our Grow series through 2 Peter 1, Col reminded us that growth begins with what God has already given us. Through His divine power, we have everything we need for life and godliness. As we know Jesus more deeply, His Spirit works within us, changing us and giving us opportunities to become more like Him. Peter then encourages us to respond by adding to our faith, beginning with goodness or moral excellence. This is a faith that becomes visible in the way we live. God has prepared good works for us to walk in, and each day brings opportunities to choose what is good, honour Him and allow His character to be seen through our lives. Col reminded us that growth is not about striving to earn God's love or becoming impressive Christians. It is about recognising that God is already at work in us and choosing to participate. Even when we have missed opportunities along the way, His grace gives us another chance to step forward and walk in the good things He has prepared for us. As we grow, may we become increasingly aware of the Holy Spirit at work within us, ready to respond to the opportunities God places before us and live out the purpose He has uniquely given each of us.
