It is a traditional thanksgiving festival held every year to give thanks to Waaqaa (God) for peace, blessings, harvest, and the end of the rainy season. The largest Irreechaa celebration takes place at Hora Arsadi Lake in Bishoftu, where millions of people gather wearing colorful traditional Oromo clothing. Participants carry fresh green grass and flowers, sing traditional songs, perform dances, and pray for unity, peace, and prosperity. Irreechaa is a symbol of hope, gratitude, and Oromo identity.
