Kelly Breen: Belmont Stakes Winner Ruler On Ice & a Career Full of Heart | The Wizard's Crystal Ball

Kelly Breen is a Jersey-born trainer who has won the Belmont Stakes, and he's still going strong. On this episode of The Wizard's Crystal Ball, Kelly talks about a career built on hustle, loyalty, and a love of the game. Kelly sits down with The Wizard to go back to the beginning: a teenager from Old Bridge, New Jersey, who dreamed of being a jockey, worked for Pat McBurney, and became Ben Perkins Sr.'s assistant before going out on his own. He tells the story of buying Ruler On Ice for $100,000 as a Keeneland yearling for George and Lori Hall and then winning the 2011 Belmont Stakes, plus the Louisiana Derby with Pants On Fire and his years as a private trainer. Kelly also shares how he enjoys every win today, splitting his time between Monmouth Park and Florida and winning a stakes race just the day before this interview. He talks about his longtime friend John Bowers Jr. and the amazing He'spuregold, who won the Irish War Cry Handicap five years in a row. The two trade stories about the riders they admire, including Paco Lopez, Manny Franco, Nick Santagata, and Ramon Dominguez, and share a few favorite hockey moments, including a Sidney Crosby story you won't want to miss. 🏇 Check out Wizard Race & Sports for horse racing picks, tools & more: 👉 https://wizardraceandsports.com/ 🎯 Want sports picks?
