🚗 Transportation & Route Comfort
We drove our personal car all the way from Guwahati through Shillong and Cherrapunji! If you or your co-passengers are prone to motion sickness, driving your own car is the absolute best way to tackle Meghalaya’s hairpin curves and steep valley roads. You can control the pace, roll down the windows for that fresh mountain air, and take plenty of scenic breaks—yielding zero motion sickness for our entire group!
• 🛣️ Road Conditions: Excellent 4-lane highway from Guwahati to Shillong. Roads toward Cherrapunji and interior waterfalls (like Wei Sawdong & Krang Suri) are mostly paved but narrow with steep elevations.
• ⛽ Fuel Infrastructure: Plenty of fuel stations in Guwahati and Shillong. Fuel up completely before venturing deep into Sohra (Cherrapunji) or Jaintia Hills (Krang Suri) as stations become sparse.
🏨 Accommodation & Stay Details (For 4 People / 2 Rooms)

🍽️ Our Go-To Vegetarian Pitstop: Extra Butter Pure Veg Restaurant

🚨 Travel Do's & Don'ts for Your Meghalaya Trip
1) Plan Early Dinners: Wrap up sightseeing and head for dinner early. Most rural areas and even parts of Shillong close kitchens or get long queues after 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM.
2) Don't Forget Cash: Network connectivity fluctuates wildly near waterfalls and valley viewpoints; carry physical cash for entry fees and parking.
3) Carry Proper Footwear & Rain Gear: Wear shoes with a solid grip for the steep bamboo trek down to Wei Sawdong and always keep an umbrella handy.
