#animeexplained #bleachanime #bleachthousandyearbloodwar - Before Yhwach and Ichibei fought in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, they met over a thousand years earlier for a non-aggression pact that ended with Yhwach's Almighty being sealed. In this video, we'll explain the original war between Yhwach and Ichibei, the Old World, the Soul King's history, TYBW's anime-original flashback, and how it all led to Yhwach's defeat against Yamamoto. Summary of Yhwach vs Ichibei's ORIGINAL War Explained: The Meeting at Silbern A thousand years before the Thousand-Year Blood War, Ichibei Hyōsube sits across from Yhwach in Silbern, capital of the Lichtreich. Ichibei isn't just a negotiator. He's the Balancer — the man tasked with protecting the Soul King's remains across the Human World, Soul Society, and Hueco Mundo simultaneously. He was present when the Soul King first formed the three worlds. He held the Soul King's mutilated body afterward. He named everything that exists in Soul Society. The critical detail most people miss: Ichibei walked into this meeting already carrying both of the Soul King's arms fused inside his own body. That decision, made before the conversation even began, tells you everything about what was really going to happen here. The Non-Aggression Pact — And What It Was Really For Ichibei's offer sounds reasonable on the surface. Soul Society continues managing the three worlds. The Lichtreich is left alone to grow and prosper. Yhwach even gets to unify the Quincy under his empire without interference. Yhwach rejects it immediately, accusing Ichibei of talking down to him. Ichibei mocks him back, telling him he genuinely knows nothing about what he's dealing with. Yhwach then demands to know who split the original unified world into three separate realms. Ichibei tells him plainly: it was the Soul King. That answer triggers everything that follows. Ichibei shows Yhwach a vision of the Soul King's actual history — the original unified world, the appearance of Hollows, the Soul King's campaign of annihilation, and the decision by the Five Great Noble Ancestors to restrain, mutilate, and seal the Soul King inside a crystal to create the three worlds. His arms torn off. His organs removed. His legs dismembered. All of it done while he never resisted. Yhwach's Answer Changes Everything After watching the vision, Yhwach calls it tragic — then immediately replaces that word with "unsightly." Pitifully repulsive. Instead of being talked down from his goals, the vision strengthens his resolve entirely. Yhwach's plan was never just about ending death. He wants to merge the three worlds back into one and become the god who builds that new world himself. He views the Soul King not as a sacred figure worth protecting but as a living corpse his enemies prop up to maintain their control. Freeing him, in Yhwach's interpretation, means destroying the world Soul Society forced him to hold together. The Trap Closes The pact was never real. Ichibei was waiting for one specific moment: Yhwach activating the Almighty. The second that power came online, the sealing could begin. When Yhwach's Sternritter opens fire with Heilig Pfeil, Ichibei stops every shot with Mimihagi — the Soul King's right arm — and fires them straight back. Simultaneously, he deploys Pernida, the Soul King's left arm, directly at Yhwach. Yhwach grabs Ichibei's left hand, confident his all-seeing eyes can't be outmaneuvered. Ichibei tells him those eyes can't see through the Soul King — because the Almighty has always had one absolute blind spot: anything connected to the Soul King himself. Why Yhwach Lost to No One a Thousand Years Ago The sealed Almighty is the entire reason Yhwach couldn't defeat Yamamoto when they fought shortly after. He went into that war without his signature power — eyes completely closed, fighting blind. Yamamoto wasn't defeating a fully-powered Quincy Emperor.
