Mikey's Backyard Project

What started as a request for someone to build a wheelchair ramp in a private facebook group resulted in Build Now tackling one of its favourite projects yet.⁠ ⁠ Their backyard was not wheelchair friendly or accessible for Mikey, before we could get to work we needed help from our friends Drain Flow Services, they jumped at the chance to help and started removing a lot of the sand build up in the backyard area.⁠ ⁠ We started with the renovation of the staircase into a wheelchair ramp to the lower level then we landscaped the whole area, turning what once was a sand pit, into a luscious grassy area for Mikey and his brother to play on.⁠ In addition to renovating the backyard area, the build coincided with Mikey’s birthday, so of course we needed to get him something to celebrate. We built him an accessible cubby house where he can let his imagination run wild in the backyard.⁠ ⁠ We also upgraded his swing set to a newer, safer alternative that fit his specially designed seat perfectly.⁠ ⁠ Seeing the look on Mikey’s face when we revealed his new backyard and cubby was priceless. We are just so happy that we were able to provide Mikey with a safe and fun space to be a kid.⁠ ⁠ Thank you to Home Group for the building supplies and volunteers and to our friends Telethon 7 for connecting us with Mikey and his family.
