His message was basically: you've seen the four Alipio siblings nail their Metallica cover, now watch the whole family do it, parents included. Full disclosure — "Under the Same Sun" isn't in my top five Scorpions songs (that's "No One Like You," "Rock You Like a Hurricane," "Still Loving You" territory). But Paul was right about what an iconic song it is, and about the message. Recorded in the 80s when the world was still deeply divided, and the song's plea — why can't we just live as one — still lands today. Missioned Souls captured that hope perfectly. The thing that keeps blowing my mind about this family is the detail. They don't skip the tiny background layers other covers miss — the little guitar lines, the layered "oh oh" harmonies, all of it. And this was my first time really hearing Sheena (mom) sing a verse on her own, and she's got a gorgeous voice. Add in Neisha's lead guitar work and Ice just being the most chill drummer, and it's another incredible cover from them. (Fair warning: I mixed up who was who a couple times in this one — the family's gotten bigger since their early videos and I'm still learning names.
