Gel Printing with Gold: A Dramatic Layering Experiment

In this session from The Joy of Gelli Printing, I begin with a messy, paint-covered gel plate—leftovers from a previous session that are too interesting to clean away. I brush on matte gel medium, sprinkle pale gold Aqua Bronze pigment, and spray with water, letting the paint separate and settle into unexpected patterns. Once dry, I add a thin layer of paint and press down delicate paper, knowing it will cling, tear, and leave fragments behind. That intentional tearing creates a textured, dramatic stage for the final print.
