Psalm 93

Psalm 93 celebrates the eternal, secure reign of God over a chaotic and unstable world: while the “floods” of turmoil, suffering and uncertainty may seem overwhelming, the LORD reigns from eternity and is infinitely mightier than anything that threatens us. His throne is unshakeable, and those who are rooted in his kingdom are secure because they are anchored to the unchanging God. His strength is matched by the beauty of his character: his testimonies are completely trustworthy, and his compassion, grace, faithful love and truth provide an anchor in a world of uncertainty, change and injustice. His holiness adorns his house, and through Christ those who trust in him have been forgiven, clothed in Christ’s righteousness, united to him and indwelt by the Holy Spirit, so that they are already holy and destined to dwell in God’s house forever.
