Procrastination isn't a time management problem. If it were, better calendars and sharper deadlines would have fixed it decades ago, and they haven't, because the actual mechanism driving procrastination has almost nothing to do with scheduling.
It's an emotional avoidance strategy wearing the disguise of poor planning, and treating the disguise instead of the actual mechanism is exactly why most advice about procrastination doesn't work.
In this video, three mechanisms behind why you actually procrastinate: why different tasks trigger completely different feelings (confusion, fear, or boredom), each needing a different fix; why procrastination gives you real, immediate relief that your brain weighs far more heavily than the distant cost of delaying; and the real reason willpower keeps failing against it, because it's trying to override a fast emotional signal with a slow cognitive tool, and under stress, the emotional signal almost always wins.
You're not lazy. You're avoiding a specific feeling, and fixing it means addressing that feeling directly instead of trying to will your way past it every time.
