Welcome to Session 14 of our Book Club, where we explore Dignity in Leadership and the idea of Successive Approximation— how growth becomes visible through small, intentional behaviors that we practise and repeat.
In this discussion, we cover:
Successive Approximation – Exploring how intention, practice, and progress come together to make growth visible, and why one small behavior repeated with attention can create a new way of being.
The Power of the Next Small Step – Reflecting on where we may be waiting for a giant leap, and what becomes possible when we focus instead on the next small, achievable step.
Change: Protection or Connection? – Looking at how we approach organizational change, what happens when we lead from self-protection, and how creating space for connection can make emotions more discussable.
Service vs. Sacrifice – Exploring the difference between work that feeds and energizes us and giving that gradually becomes depleting or unsustainable.
Ego in Action – Looking at how humility, pride, and arrogance or hubris can become visible through our behaviors, relationships, and the way we relate to comparison.
Vulnerability and Balance – Exploring the space between being too guarded and too open, and what it might mean to be both open enough and defended enough in our relationships.
Emotions That Support Learning – Reflecting on emotions such as humility, curiosity, perseverance, self-compassion, gratitude, courage, acceptance, and equanimity — and how they can support our next step.
Putting It into Practice – Turning reflection into an observable, repeatable behavior by identifying one small practice to work on over the next seven days.
Join us as we unpack this chapter through discussion, reflection, and practical application.
Ask questions, share your experiences, explore the ideas, and discover what your next small step could be.
