Kodava Valaga is a traditional dance form of the Kodava community from Coorg (Kodagu), Karnataka. Performed mostly during festive occasions, weddings, and cultural gatherings, the dance is accompanied by rhythmic beats of traditional instruments like the dudi (drum), kombu (horn), and thappu. The dancers, usually in groups, move in circular or semi-circular formations, stepping gracefully in sync with the music. Their coordinated footwork, hand movements, and the vibrant attire of the Kodava people highlight the unity, discipline, and rich heritage of the community. More than just entertainment, Valaga symbolizes togetherness and celebration, reflecting the martial traditions and cultural pride of the Kodavas.
