Christian Hosoi was one of the biggest stars skateboarding had ever seen. Then he lost everything.
Before Tony Hawk became a household name, Christian Hosoi was skateboarding's rock star.
The giant airs.
The Hammerhead.
The Christ Air.
The wild hair.
The style.
The charisma.
The rivalry with Tony Hawk.
In the 1980s, Hosoi wasn't simply one of the best skateboarders in the world, he was one of the most recognizable athletes in the world.
But the story didn't end at the top.
As skateboarding changed, Hosoi's life began to unravel. Drugs, business problems, legal trouble and eventually prison took him from the center of skateboarding's universe to a federal prison cell.
Then came the part nobody expected.
The comeback.
Christian Hosoi returned to skateboarding, found a new purpose, became a husband, father, pastor, mentor, and eventually returned to the spotlight as a legendary skater who was still capable of going BIG.
This is more than a skateboarding documentary.
It's the story of rise, fame, addiction, prison, faith, redemption, friendship and one of the most remarkable comebacks in skateboarding history.
And it raises a question that skateboarders have argued about for decades:
Is Christian Hosoi The Greatest Skateboarders Of All Time?
Tony Hawk.
Rodney Mullen.
Mark Gonzales.
Danny Way.
Yuto Horigome.
Christian Hosoi.
The statistics only tell part of the story.
Style is forever.
Featuring rare archival film and video, Super 8, 16mm, Hi8 SVHS, 3/4" Mini DV, Beta SP footage, personal memories and the story behind one of skateboarding's most iconic figures.
If you grew up skating in the '80s or '90s, this one is for you.
If you're discovering Christian Hosoi for the first time, welcome to the story.
