Bearded Printer - Don't be afraid to be bad at something - S26E0908

Bearded Printer passed a college engineering course with a C-minus. He was terrible at the programming part and didn't understand it at all. So, naturally, he changed his degree to software engineering, and that's his job now. 3D printing started the same way. His first printer was an Anet A8 kit he built without doing any research. He didn't level the bed, watched the nozzle dig into the plate for about thirty seconds wondering if that was normal, turned a few screws, sent the print again and went to bed. He woke up to half a Baymax. He cleared his first clog with a propane torch. His advice for anybody starting out: "There's no way you can be good at something without first being bad at it." He entered Printables contests he knew he wouldn't win, just to get himself designing. A quarter of a million downloads later, most of them one water dragon, he calls himself "just a guy with a hobby." Most of his followers came for the floppy models. He's designing bowls and lamps anyway, because he wants to make things that are more helpful, and he isn't expecting the downloads to follow.
