I mean, yeah, the journeys these characters take to their eventual 'happily ever after' wasn't the same; but the circumstances under which both couples got nikkahfied were eerily similar. In both Humsafar and Diyar-e-Dil, two cousins (read: practically strangers), who've barely laid eyes on each other, are suddenly thrown into a marriage of majboori, adhering to their parents' aakhri khwaa-wish. insert the deathbed scene from the Living Picture's parody of Humsafar here The similarities don't end here: right off the bat, both Farah and Ashar assume that their spouse is uneducated, therefore, incompatible with them as a life partner; and, so, they entirely refuse to acknowledge their existence. Except for, of course, the occasional side-eyes and jibes. giggles Oh, they have NO idea how hard they're going to fall! Wait.. I sound like I'm writing a dissertation on the similarities between the two shows. Let's stop here. MY POINT IS (totally unrelated to all that ^ word vomit up there, by the way), I basically took the similar premise, removed all the negativity and cooked up a slightly happier story! In this NAYA universe, the guy is secretly in love with his cousin and desperately maangos her in his duas. Lucky for him, one of those duas were made during the ghari of qubooliyat.. and, well, minus that '-iyat,' triple that 'qubool' and you've got yourself a cousin-wife hybrid! Mubarak ho! I bet that opening quote makes ALL the sense in the world now, eh! elbows you playfully Now, he just has to patiently wait for her to meet him halfway, like a nice little, Farhat Ishtiaq-certified gentlemen.
