👉 Never Hungry: the amounts, shelf lives and storage for the foods my mother kept: https://virgiltolliver.shop
My name is Virgil Tolliver. I'm 76, born in 1950 in Cimarron County, out at the western tip of the Oklahoma panhandle.
My mother Opal was eleven on Black Sunday, 1935. The dust got into everything that day except the flour, because my grandmother kept it in lard cans with the lids pressed down tight. For seventy years after that, Mama kept her pantry full, and she never once let our family go to bed hungry.
In this video I walk you through 12 Depression era foods her generation stocked on purpose. Stored right, these foods never expire. I checked everything against the Department of Agriculture and the American Red Cross. No shouting, no fear.
What you'll see today:
✔️ Why most dates on food aren't about safety, and how food really spoils
✔️ The food in your kitchen right now that most people throw out too soon
✔️ The pot of beans that fed nine people at a table built for six
✔️ Why your sacks of flour are the weak spot, and what to keep instead
Nobody in my family ever measured anything. So I weighed it and counted it: how much for one person, two, or a full house, how long each thing keeps, and the small mistakes that cut that time in half. It's all in Never Hungry. The link is right at the top. 👆
❤️ If this helped, give it a like and subscribe. Every week I share what my mother knew.
📨 And send it to somebody our age who thinks their flour lasts forever.
