🌴 Micky Finn | AWOL Live in London Volume II | 1994 | Jungle

Micky Finn at AWOL, London, 1994 — a heavyweight piece of early Jungle from one of the DJs who helped shape the sound as it emerged from the Hardcore era. Micky Finn was already deeply involved in London's underground dance scene, progressing from Acid House and Hardcore into the developing Jungle sound. His work behind the decks during this period helped establish the breakbeat-heavy, bass-driven style that would evolve into Drum & Bass. 🎧 WHAT TO EXPECT Raw 1994 Jungle from Micky Finn at AWOL, with heavyweight bass, rapid breakbeats, ragga influences and the relentless energy of the early Jungle sound. This is the sound of Jungle before the later Drum & Bass era had fully settled into place — fast, dark, experimental and built for the dancefloor. 👊 WHO IT'S FOR For oldskool Jungle heads, AWOL ravers, Micky Finn fans, early Drum & Bass listeners, pirate-radio fans, DJs, tape-pack collectors and anyone digging into the original 1990s UK rave sound. ⚠️ WHY IT'S ESSENTIAL Micky Finn was one of the DJs closely associated with the development of Jungle at AWOL. His role alongside DJs including Randall, Kenny Ken and Darren Jay helped make AWOL at the Paradise Club an important centre for the emerging sound. The AWOL Live in London Volume II archive preserves six performances from this 1994 period, including Micky Finn & MC GQ, alongside Randall, Cool Hand Flex, Darren Jay, Kenny Ken and Dr S Gachet. 📡 CONTEXT + PLAYLIST FLOW AWOL — A Way Of Life — became one of the defining London Jungle nights of the early 1990s. Based at Islington's Paradise Club, it provided a concentrated environment where DJs, MCs and ravers helped shape the developing Jungle sound. Micky Finn was central to that story. Contemporary material from the period identifies him as an AWOL resident, while later accounts of Jungle's development place him among the DJs helping push the music forward from its Hardcore roots. This Volume II recording sits alongside the wider AWOL archive and gives you another perspective on the 1994 London Jungle sound.
