🎙️ Virtuous Women International Missions Podcast Sometimes the desire to make everything perfect keeps us from doing the good work God has already placed before us. For Episode 81, the Virtuous Women will discuss how perfectionism can become a hidden barrier to obedience, growth, service, leadership, ministry, and purpose. God calls us to pursue excellence, but excellence is not the same as perfectionism. Perfectionism says: “I cannot begin until everything is right.” Faith says: “I will begin with what God has placed in my hands and trust Him as I grow.” 📖 Key Scriptures Zechariah 4:10 “For who hath despised the day of small things?” Small beginnings still matter to God. Ecclesiastes 11:4 “He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.” Waiting for perfect conditions can keep us from ever beginning. Philippians 3:13–14 Paul reminds us to keep pressing forward rather than becoming trapped by what is behind us. Colossians 3:23 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord…” God calls us to give our best—not to become prisoners of impossible standards. 🌿 What We Will Discuss We will explore the difference between excellence and perfectionism. Excellence prepares, learns, improves, and keeps moving. Perfectionism can produce fear of failure, procrastination, unnecessary delay, comparison, dissatisfaction, and unrealistic expectations. Sometimes perfectionism even sounds spiritual: “I’m waiting on God.” But sometimes God has already said go, and fear is what is keeping us still. For the Virtuous Woman, the question becomes: Am I truly waiting on God—or am I waiting until I feel perfectly ready? 💬 Discussion Questions What have you delayed because you wanted it to be perfect? How can we pursue excellence without becoming perfectionistic? What small step is God asking you to take now? 🌱 Episode 81 Challenge Think about one assignment, dream, ministry idea, relationship, project, or opportunity you have delayed because you felt “not ready enough.” Then ask: What can I faithfully do with what I have today? Start there. ✨ Key Takeaway Your beginning does not have to be perfect to be purposeful. Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can. Learn as you grow. Give God your best. Trust Him with the outcome. Progress with God is better than perfection that never begins.
