From the Writer's Heart “Please Don't Leave Me Here” is one of those songs that is difficult to write because its message reaches beyond music. It reaches into eternity. I believe there is coming a moment when Jesus will return for His Church, and when that moment comes, there will be no announcement giving us five more minutes to prepare. There will be no opportunity to suddenly make things right with God. There will only be the realization that the moment everyone heard about has finally arrived. The most heartbreaking words in this song are, “Jesus, please don't leave me here.” Not because Jesus doesn't love those who cry them, but because the opportunity to surrender to Him was given while the door of mercy was still open. This song is my reminder that we cannot put our relationship with Jesus off until tomorrow. We cannot assume there will always be another service, another invitation, another opportunity, or another day. If you have never truly given your heart to Jesus Christ, don't wait for the trumpet to sound. Come to Him while His grace is calling. Ask Him to forgive your sins, surrender your life to Him, and make Him Lord of your life.
