It’s been a grey, rainy month, so a cloudless blue sky like this has been a long time coming. Early autumn sunshine can catch the pampas grass across the highlands just right, making it glow. With Mount Fuji in the distance and a sea of clouds rolling below, the shadows and swells of the hills looked just like ocean waves, and the shimmering grass felt like surf crashing against the shore. Basking in that magical scenery made for a pretty special morning. Having got the exact shots we wanted, we left the stunning highlands behind and headed down toward the Ina Valley. We'd heard that some red buckwheat—a Himalayan variety—was in full bloom deep in the woods. Photography-wise, it was a bit of a tricky job, but it really felt like autumn was properly setting in. Ideally, we should have got there at the crack of dawn before the tourists started showing up. Because it was absolutely packed, we gave the local eateries a miss and drove over for Komagane’s famous pork cutlet rice bowl, tossed in a rich Worcestershire-based sauce. To cap it all off, we spent a lovely, relaxed afternoon taking in the autumn colors at Kozen-ji, an ancient mountain temple famous for its moss. I hope you enjoy the video and the crisp, beautiful feeling of this autumn day. #Photo #4by5 #Sheet_film #BandW_photograph #4x5 Chapter List: 00:00 Fujimidai, Kirigamine (霧ヶ峰) 00:41 Setting up the camera 00:52 Wandering through the pampas grass 02:44 Venus Line (Nagano Prefectural Route 40) 03:28 Minowa-Twon Red Buckwheat Village 04:15 Struggling a bit with the shots 06:04 Walking around the buckwheat fields 06:31 Hosakuzan Kozen-ji Temple (宝積山光前寺) Equipment Used: Schneider Super-Symmar HM 120mm F/5.6 Rondenstock Apo-Sironar N 150mm F/5.6 ILFORD DELTA 100 Professional (4by5) Linhof Master Technika 2000 Vlogging equipment: Vario-Tessar T* FE 24-70mm F4 Sony α7 iv GoPro HERO 12 Black
