God Our Refuge (Psalm 46) | Songs That Shape Us: Psalms

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1 God Our Refuge is based on Psalm 46 and is part of Songs That Shape Us: Psalms. Psalm 46 doesn't pretend that life is peaceful. The earth gives way. Mountains fall. Waters roar. Nations rage. And right in the middle of all that chaos comes the declaration that changes how God's people face it: God is our refuge and strength. Each week during our Songs That Shape Us series, we're spending time with one of the Psalms—reading it, studying it, and allowing these ancient songs and prayers to shape the way we see God, ourselves, and the world around us. I'm releasing a song alongside each week's Psalm as another way to carry its words and message with us throughout the week. A note about the music: The songs on Front Porch Story Songs are created collaboratively with AI. I develop the biblical direction, lyrics, concepts, and creative decisions, while using AI tools as part of the songwriting, music, and production process. A note about the Scripture: These lyrics are based on Psalm 46 but are slightly paraphrased and adapted for songwriting. They are not intended to reproduce any particular Bible translation word-for-word. The song is an aid to remembering and reflecting on the Psalm—not a replacement for reading the biblical text itself. 🎵 Songs That Shape Us: Psalms Front Porch Story Songs — Songs for Real Life #Psalm46 #GodOurRefuge #Psalms #ScriptureSong #ChristianMusic #WorshipMusic #SongsThatShapeUs
