Nick Drake – Place to Be Written by Nick Drake. This gorgeous song “Place to Be” is the second track on the “Pink Moon” album, behind the title track. Whereas “Pink Moon” can be seen as a mystery, this song less so. “Place to Be” seems to me to be a very dark song. In every verse the character starts out strong and full of life, yet ends up feeling weak and depressed. This is what remains very mysterious about the “Pink Moon” album. The songs are beautiful and dark. The contrasts of feelings when listening to this album, and this particular song, is astounding. The melody and lyrics are pretty much perfect. Like all Nick Drake songs in my opinion. What strikes me too, is that practicing and recording/performing a Nick Drake song - this is our third Nick Drake video - happens quite quickly and comfortably. As if the song is so well-crafted that it’s just a pleasure to play and the joy comes instantly! Well, we hope you like it!
