378. WELS Statistics and where does the WELS (Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod) go from here?

What do church statistics actually tell us—and where do they fall completely short? In this episode of Casting Nets, Pastor Dave Ruddat and Pastor Will Harley dive headfirst into the newly expanded 120-page statistical report. Eschewing polished talking points for real, unfiltered conversation (backed by a healthy 20% chaos), the pastors break down the "both/and" reality of modern ministry: record numbers of adult confirmations alongside the sobering impact of inflation on church funding and mission work. Tune in as they explore why evaluating church health takes more than just numbers, how to count the cost of ministry priorities, and why Christ's promises remain the only true anchor. 📌 What We Cover in This Episode: • The "Both/And" Reality: Examining the heavy losses against record-breaking adult spiritual gains and confirmations. • The Cost of Doing Business: How inflation and shifting buying power impact church missions, worker support, and long-term sustainability. • Priorities in Ministry: Asking the hard questions about what it truly means to serve our neighbors and raise up the next generation. 🔗 Connect With Us: • Website: castingnets.org • Email Us: castingnetspod@gmail.com • Join the Community: Catch us in person or drop your comments on YouTube, Facebook, Rumble, or Spotify! videos found here: https://welscongregationalservices.ne...
