It sits on the western edge of Lookout Mountain and feels a little more tucked away than many state parks. Campground Overview: The park has two main campgrounds. The West Rim campground is where most RV sites are located, and the East Rim campground is a bit quieter with fewer sites. Overall, it’s a well-kept park with a more natural, wooded feel. Hookups: RV sites are water and electric only. Electric typically includes 30 and 50 amp service depending on the site. There are some sewer hookups sites. There is a dump station available. Big Rig Friendly: Some sites can handle larger rigs, but not all. Roads are paved, but a bit tighter in areas, so it’s a good idea to check site length before booking. Amenities: Clean bathhouses with flush toilets and hot showers Laundry facilities Playground and picnic areas Camp store and visitor center Cell Service: Cell service can be limited depending on your carrier, especially in the canyon areas. Things to Do in the Park Waterfalls: The park is known for its waterfalls, including Cherokee Falls and Hemlock Falls. Hiking: There are miles of trails, including the popular canyon trails with scenic overlooks. Important to Know: To reach the waterfalls, you’ll need to take the stairs into the canyon. It’s a beautiful hike, but it is a workout coming back up. Scenic Views: The overlooks along the rim give you some really beautiful views of the canyon without a long hike. Things to Do Nearby Chattanooga, TN About 30 to 40 minutes away for restaurants, shopping, and attractions Lookout Mountain area Rock City and other scenic stops nearby DeSoto State Park (Alabama) - Our next stop! About 45 minutes away with more waterfalls and hiking This is a great park if you enjoy hiking and scenery, but it’s not a “sit at your site and watch the water” kind of campground. You’ll want to come here ready to explore, and be prepared for stairs if you plan to see the waterfalls. It’s a quieter, more nature-focused park that feels a little removed from the busier areas nearby.
