7 Real Shawshank Inmates Who Became Feared Behind Bars—Full List&Details

Eleven days of chaos at Lucasville. Two condemned men and pistols carved from soap. A convicted killer who walked out of a Columbus shopping center and vanished for 50+ years. This true-crime documentary follows seven real men connected to the Ohio prison system, from the Dillinger gang's last stand to one of the deadliest prison uprisings in American history. Shawshank was fiction, filmed at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield. These men were not Shawshank inmates, and not all were held at the Reformatory. They served time in the Ohio Penitentiary in Columbus, the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville, and other Ohio institutions. Every story is built on court records, law enforcement statements and reputable reporting. In this documentary: Lester Eubanks: the 1973 escape that made him a U.S. Marshals' Most Wanted fugitive Harry Pierpont: Dillinger's partner and the 1934 death house escape attempt Charles Makley: the Lima jailbreak and the soap-gun shootout O. Henry (William Sydney Porter): the writer who found his pen name in an Ohio prison David Allan Coe: the country singer and the prison legend that records don't support Robert Rembert: the Cleveland cold case solved by DNA Siddique Abdullah Hasan: the 1993 Lucasville uprising and the questions still unanswered Where sources disagree, we say so #TrueCrime #PrisonDocumentary #OhioHistory #Lucasville #JohnDillinger #OHenry #ColdCase #TrueCrimeDocumentary #PrisonHistory #Shawshank #Unsolved #CrimeHistory SEO tags (comma-separated): true crime documentary, Ohio prison documentary, Shawshank real prisoners, Ohio State Reformatory, Lucasville prison riot, Lucasville uprising 1993, Lester Eubanks escape, Lester Eubanks US Marshals, Harry Pierpont, Charles Makley, John Dillinger gang, Dillinger Lima jailbreak, O.
