🚗☘️ DRIVING THROUGH SAVANNAH, GEORGIA — THE DAY AFTER ST. PATRICK’S DAY!
Join us for an authentic drive through Savannah, Georgia, beginning on Jefferson Street near West Bay Street in the historic downtown area.
It’s March 18, the day after Savannah’s famous St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, and the city is noticeably quieter than the day before.
As we travel through downtown, you’ll see hotels, historic-style buildings, businesses, courthouse-area streets, and rows of parked vehicles along both sides of the road.
You’ll also notice metal pedestrian barriers still positioned around parts of downtown, following the previous day’s festivities.
☁️ THE WEATHER:
It’s approximately 1:30 PM, with cloudy skies and a little drizzle that eventually stops.
🚗 THE JOURNEY:
We begin around Jefferson Street in downtown Savannah, pass through city streets and commercial areas, continue onto a main highway, and eventually explore quieter residential neighborhoods.
As the scenery changes, you’ll notice a different side of Savannah: older-style homes, peaceful neighborhood streets, and very little pedestrian activity.
The recording includes natural road sounds and casual conversation between the vehicle’s occupants as we enjoy the drive.
😳 THEN SOMETHING UNEXPECTED HAPPENS…
Toward the end of our journey, something unusual catches our attention in the middle of a residential street.
From a distance, it looks like a large pothole or possibly a sinkhole!
We decide to turn around, get out of the vehicle, and take a closer look.
What we find is an excavated roadway area with piles of broken pavement, construction debris, orange traffic barrels, and caution tape.
It wasn’t the sinkhole we initially thought we saw, but it was certainly an unexpected discovery!
