The arrest followed the Orissa High Court’s rejection of his pre-arrest bail plea in a case involving alleged manipulation and falsification of prison records after two undertrial prisoners escaped from Choudwar Circle Jail in October 2025. Former jailor Santoshini Dash had alleged that official records were manipulated and that her signature was forged. These are allegations forming part of the criminal case and remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.
