Oh, boy, dear viewers, did I have a treat at work this afternoon?! OK, I admit it. I have strange tastes, but given I owned a Hackney Carriage (LTI TX2) a couple of years back, I'm willing to accept that.
Most of you will experience this type of vehicle either drunk or nervously dashing to the airport, so I thought I'd share the actual driving experience with you.
Firstly, it's bigger in the back & a few inches taller than the LTI's that preceeded it. There is now room for six in the back. They've also lengthened the wheelbase for disabled accommodation. This model has a panoramic (fixed) glass sunroof, so the journey back from the night club won't feel nearly as shadowy.
The interior design IE the PU leather & folding seats hasn't changed much at all, really. They're just as ergonomic & the attentio to safety isn't left wanting either.
Anyway, what's it like to drive? I'm pleased to say, rather good. It absorbs the bumps well, so no travel sickess, there's a fantastic sat-nav system as standard (if you haven't completed THE KNOWLEDGE yet) and the driving seat & position are very comfortable. Everything is to hand. The only complaint I have is that given it's electric & loaded with modern taxi technology, it's heavy, which I noticed on the road. This isn't a taxi that you can throw around like a TX2/4 or Metrocab. In fairness to this vehicle, that's the point. It's not a driver's car, it's a passenger's car.
