Stiffys Camp, A Bloody Cold Trip & A BIG Sambar Deer Hunt | .375 H&H

Welcome back to Stiffys Outdoors! On this adventure Lisa and I head out to Stiffys Camp for a cold and wet winter overnighter. We collect a load of firewood using the Troopie and get a bloody good fire going before settling in for a couple of drinks while the rain comes down. The next morning it's time to head out after Sambar deer, and this time I'm carrying the BIG GUN — my .375 H&H Magnum. Not long into the hunt I put up a huge Sambar stag and get two running shots away. I then spend a long time tracking it, hoping to find a blood trail, but eventually establish that I'd missed him. I was absolutely gutted. It was a shot I really thought I should have made, but that's hunting. The stag lives to fight another day. Sometimes you get the deer, sometimes you don't. That's hunting.
