The Sea Doesn't Ask Your name - A Tribute to the RNLI Volunteers

“The Sea Doesn’t Ask Your Name” is a folk song celebrating the ordinary people who answer the call when someone is in danger at sea. Inspired by the work of RNLI lifeboat crews, the song is about something very simple: when someone is in the water, cold, frightened and needing help, their background doesn’t matter. What matters is that somebody goes. The pager sounds. The boots go on. The lifeboat launches. “So a hand reaches for a hand And a voice says, ‘I’ve got you’ That’s all that matters out there That’s what lifeboat people do.” This isn’t a protest song. It’s a thank-you — to the volunteers who leave their homes, families and warm beds to head out into conditions most of us would rather stay well away from. The Sea Doesn’t Ask Your Name Written and produced by Lacheela Quiet Heath project This is an independent tribute and is not an official RNLI production or endorsement.
