In 1902, an entire city bet that New York's strangest new skyscraper would blow down in the first storm. It never did. This is the dark truth behind the Flatiron Building, the tower everyone was sure the wind would kill.

They called it Burnham's Folly. A twenty-two story tower on a triangle of land so thin its point measured barely six and a half feet across, standing over one of the busiest crossings in America. New Yorkers placed bets on how far the debris would scatter when the wind finally knocked it down. It never came down. In this documentary we walk the whole build, machine by machine: the impossible triangle nobody wanted, the forgotten bridge engineer who braced the steel to survive four times the maximum wind, the 3,680 tons of riveted steel that climbed at a floor a week with no harnesses in sight, the scandalous winds at street level, and the fortune the building later lost in the Great Depression. The human cost is left in.
