Replacing Gas Meter Head for AMR

Originally recorded November 21, 2014. My gas company has, after repeatedly not billing me correctly, finally decided to "get with the times" and switch my meter head out for one with AMR--Automated Meter Reading Capability. I do not know exactly how this device is "read", but I do know it is different from the so-called "Smart Meters" that are being used for electricity. I understand that unlike the smart meters, these meters do not talk to each other. However, they do send pulses of EMR (that's Electro-Magnetic Radiation) periodically that can be picked up by a reader. If you're worried about the device emitting radiation, PUT DOWN that phone of yours because that's doing it as well. (We're going to end up as a culture of myopic people with deformed hands and brain cancer). Fortunately, there was a short period of time when the old meter head was off, but the new one was not attached yet, when I received free gas. I tried bribing the guy to take a coffee break then, but he didn't need a cup.
