After delivery, heavy hair fall, dandruff and dry, unmanageable hair become every new mom’s biggest struggle. Just 7 months postpartum, I decided to share not just a recipe but my real experience with this powerful homemade hair oil. Made with simple ingredients from your kitchen and garden – curry leaves, neem, hibiscus (gudhal), rosemary, amla, kalonji, methi, flax seeds and onion – this oil deeply nourishes the roots, controls dandruff, adds natural shine and makes hair soft, strong and healthy.
I prepare a fresh batch every time my bottle finishes and both my husband and I use it regularly. Everything is pure, natural and easily available at home. No expensive salon treatments needed! Perfect for postpartum recovery, daily hair fall issues or whenever your hair feels weak and lifeless.
Massage well for 4–5 minutes, leave only for 3–4 hours maximum and wash. Consistency + good diet = visible results.

Ingredients List
Curry leaves (कड़ी पत्ता) – a handful
Neem leaves (नीम के पत्ते) – a handful
Hibiscus leaves & flowers (गुड़हल के पत्ते व फूल) – a few
Rosemary – 1 tbsp (dry or fresh)
Amla powder – 1 tbsp
Kalonji (black seeds) – 1 tbsp
Methi dana (fenugreek seeds) – 1 tbsp
Flax seeds (अलसी) – 1 tbsp
Medium onion – 1, sliced lengthwise
Coconut oil – 1 cup (approx. 300–400 g) (or mustard oil if preferred)
Recipe (Step by Step)
Wash curry leaves, neem leaves and hibiscus leaves thoroughly. Coarsely crush them.
Tip: Always crush the leaves – never add them whole so that maximum nutrients go into the oil.
In a mortar-pestle or mixer jar, coarsely grind methi, kalonji and flax seeds (1 tablespoon each). Keep aside.
Heat 1 cup coconut oil in an iron kadhai on low-medium flame. (Iron kadhai is best; steel can be used if iron is not available.)
Once the oil is slightly warm, add the crushed leaves. Sauté gently on low flame until they start bubbling lightly.
Add the coarsely ground dry ingredients, amla powder, rosemary and 2 hibiscus flowers. Keep the flame low.
Add the sliced onion. Cook everything on low flame, stirring occasionally, until the onion and other ingredients are well cooked and the oil becomes aromatic. Do not let anything burn.
Switch off the flame and let the oil cool completely.
Strain through a clean cotton cloth into a clean bottle. Store in a cool place.
Massage thoroughly into the scalp for 4–5 minutes. Leave for maximum 3–4 hours (or overnight if needed, but not longer). Wash with mild shampoo. Avoid rough towel drying – let hair air-dry naturally.
