Adobe Is Suddenly In Trouble
Is the collapse of Adobe starting? The company behind Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, Acrobat, Creative Cloud, and Adobe Firefly is facing one of the biggest disruptions in its history as generative AI, AI image generators, AI video tools, Canva, Figma, ChatGPT, and new creative software alternatives change how people design, edit photos, and create videos. Adobe is pushing aggressively into creative AI and AI agents, but growing competition and investor concerns are raising questions about whether its decades-long dominance of the creative software industry is as secure as it once looked.
For decades, Adobe had something almost every software company dreams about:
It became the default.
Photoshop became synonymous with photo editing. Premiere and After Effects became staples of professional video production. Illustrator dominated vector graphics. And Creative Cloud turned millions of creators into recurring subscribers.
Then AI changed the equation.
Today, someone who once needed years of experience with Photoshop can generate sophisticated imagery from a prompt. AI video tools are improving rapidly, while Canva and Figma are pushing deeper into AI-powered creative workflows. Some competing professional creative tools are even being offered free or at substantially lower prices, increasing pressure on Adobe's subscription model.
Investors have noticed. Adobe shares had fallen sharply in 2026 by March, while the announced departure of longtime CEO Shantanu Narayen added uncertainty about the company's direction during the AI transition.
But Adobe isn't standing still.
The company has expanded AI assistants across Firefly, Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator and other Creative Cloud products, while also bringing Adobe tools into platforms such as ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot and Gemini.
AI is attacking the very advantage Adobe spent decades building: the need to master complicated professional creative software.

Adobe still has powerful products, professional workflows and a huge installed base and it continues to report strong business results while expanding its AI offerings.
But the question has changed.
It's no longer “Can anyone build a better Photoshop?”
It's:
“What happens when millions of people don't need Photoshop to create what they want anymore?”
💬 Do you think Adobe will dominate the AI creative era or will AI finally break its hold on creative software?
