Mini 0806 and Mini 0906 Dash Cam Comparison, Side by Side

This shows a comparison of the Mini 0806 and Mini 0906 Dash Cams, in several settings, day and night, in northern Virginia. Note that the 0906 has a front main camera, and a remote or rear camera, only the front camera is shown here. The 0906 has the advantage of capacitor power, the 0806 has a battery that sometimes fails in high heat. Both cameras perform very well. I would say the 0906 is a little better. In the day, the colors are a bit brighter; the night scene is a bit brighter, though some graininess is noted. Note that I found that the night scene of the 0906 is better if you adjust the Exposure to -0.3; the factory value of 0 is a bit overexposed and grainy. The -0.3 value is acceptable during the day too. Also, I tried adjusting the video quality between Normal, Fine, and Super Fine, and really didn't notice any difference, except that the file size is twice as big at Super Fine, so recommend setting at Normal. The polarizing lens is highly recommended for the day. But you have to install the lens correctly. The polarizing lens attaches over the main lens with a magnet. If you just stick it on in a random position, it won't work. The correct procedure is: On a bright sunny day, drive the car in different directions, and note where there is the most glare and reflections on the windshield; stop the car in this position. Then stick the polarizing lens on. Then look at the dash cam display, and slowly rotate the polarizing lens; there will be a position where the reflections are filtered out, and you have a clear view of the road ahead. Keep the lens in this position, and make a mark on the lens and camera so you know the correct position. You can keep the lens on at night too, but it doesn't really help, it just makes the picture a bit darker.
