Make in India: KL University Students Launch 3 Indigenous Satellites

Following the historic satellite launch, Dr. K. Ch. Sri Kavya, CTO of the KLSAT2 mission, provided a detailed technical overview of the milestone achieved by 34 ECE students at KL University. She reported that after an intensive eighteen-month journey, the team successfully deployed three innovative satellites, marking a significant evolution from their 2023 mission. Dr. Kavya detailed the success of a credit-card-sized lightweight balloon that reached an altitude of 14 kilometers, as well as the advanced KLSAT2, which utilized a hybrid drone experiment to retrieve sophisticated spectrometer data across 18 different wavelengths. She further highlighted the success of their ""CAN"" satellite, which has qualified for the final ISRO IN-SPACe and ASIQ competitions after demonstrating a flawless parachute deployment and data retrieval process. Crucially, she emphasized that every component was conceptualized and designed by the students themselves, aligning perfectly with the national vision of ""Make in India"" and ""Atmanirbhar Bharat."" By developing these indigenous technologies on campus, the university has successfully demonstrated its leadership in the satellite design sector. Dr. Kavya concluded by stating that this mission realized a collective dream of pushing the boundaries of space exploration through self-reliant engineering.
