Arthur G. Henning’s Art Model Studios was undoubtedly the most prolific U.S. producer of large-scale ocean liner models intended for travel agency display. The famous shop was headquartered in Mount Vernon, New York, and during peak production was turning out an average of 200 models per year, and repairing another 300 models annually with a staff of only 10 modelmakers. This video looks at some of the techniques and characteristics of the models that made Art Model Studios a success, and contributes to the desirability and collectability of the models today – nearly three-quarters of a century after they were built.
