Ātmabodha — The Knowledge of the Self is a concise teaching on the nature of the Self and the means by which it may be recognized.
Traditionally attributed to Śaṅkarācārya, this classic of Advaita Vedānta presents its teachings through 68 verses, using clear images and familiar analogies to point toward a simple but radical understanding: what we take ourselves to be is not what we truly are.
The body, mind, senses, and changing experiences belong to the field of experience. The Self, according to this teaching, is that which remains present through all of them — awareness itself.
This audiobook presents an original English translation of Ātmabodha, prepared directly from the Sanskrit with reference to traditional Advaita commentary. Brief notes are included where helpful to clarify traditional terms and references.
