What level is your car?
You know the mileage. You know how old it is. But do you know what that mileage actually says about the way you own your car?
There are 3 levels of car ownership.
Level 1 is where everyone starts — when your car passes 100,000 miles and people start asking when you're going to replace it.
Level 2 is when the repair bill arrives. The car may not be worth much on paper, but you have to decide whether to repair it or replace it.
Level 3 is different.
It's when the car reaches 200,000+ miles, the paint fades, the interior wears out, and the people who once told you to replace it finally stop asking.
In this video, we follow one 2004 Toyota Corolla from 103,000 miles to 161,000 miles and eventually to 247,000 miles — and the decisions behind each stage.
We'll look at:
• Why 100,000 miles doesn't mean what it used to
• When repairing an old car makes financial sense
• The difference between cost and value
• Why knowing your car's history can matter
• What changes when a car reaches 200,000+ miles
• Why some people keep the same car for decades
• And what the three levels of car ownership really mean
Not every old car should be kept forever. Sometimes replacing a vehicle is the right decision.
But sometimes you're not refusing to buy a new car.
You're refusing to replace something that still works.
So...
What level is your car?
Level 1?
Level 2?
Or Level 3?
